Nazuna Kyoto, Tsubaki Avenue
For this project, flat-split bamboo (hirawari) was used as decorative material for the ceiling and walls. Hirawari is created by dividing a round bamboo culm into equal sections and shaving it to achieve a uniform width, making it suitable for various fences and interior applications. In this case, the flexibility of the bamboo was leveraged to curve a single piece from wall to ceiling. Indirect lighting enhances the bamboos texture, creating a soft, atmospheric glow throughout the space.
