Tanabata Part 2 – Trimming

Once the long branches are brought back to the workshop, they are wrapped in wet blankets and covered with tarps to keep them fresh.

From each 2-meter branch, small Tanabata branches are trimmed by hand. Every year, our craftsmen prepare around 600 of these small Tanabata.

They will later be brought home by the children after the celebration.
Tanabata (七夕)is a cherished Japanese summer festival held every year on July 7th, celebrating the once-a-year meeting of two stars – Orihime and Hikoboshi.
