Our Nearly 150-Year Journey with Bamboo

Since our founding in 1877 in Uzumasa, Kyoto, Takesada Shoten has spent five generations working with bamboo – refining techniques to bring out the full potential of this remarkable natural material.

Though times have changed, the beauty and possibilities of bamboo remain timeless. In fact, bamboo is now gaining renewed attention for its relevance in contemporary spatial design and environmentally conscious living.

We see it as our mission to honor and preserve traditional craftsmanship while actively exploring new applications of bamboo in fields such as architecture and interior design. By collaborating closely with architects and designers, we strive to bring to life ideas that can only be achieved through bamboo.

We will continue to embrace new challenges to share the value of bamboo with the world and pass its legacy on to the next generation.
