A-02Moso Green Bamboo
MOSO AODAKE | 孟宗青竹
Both Mosodake and Madake are essential species in the Japanese bamboo industry, widely used as primary materials for both interior and exterior bamboo products. They can be easily distinguished by their nodes: Mosodake has a single ring, while Madake features two rings spaced few millimeters apart.
Mosodake (Phyllostachys edulis) was introduced to Japan from China during the Edo period (1603–1868) and is known for its thick walls and large diameter. These characteristics make it ideal for producing laminated bamboo boards, among other uses. In the culinary world, Mosodake bamboo shoots are traditionally enjoyed as an early spring delicacy.
